The Neural Filters in Photoshop

Neural filters, available in the latest version, are superb additions. Neural in Photoshop means the neural network, an AI learning subset. The existing face tools bring less realistic results. For example, when you use the Happiness slider on a picture, the smile you get will look as if forced, not a natural smile. But, this tool can be effective and useful if you use it carefully. It also includes sliders for Surprise and Anger, out of which the Surprise one is quite effective. In some pictures, the aging filter doesn’t work on the neck region. There is an option – Retain Unique Details. It is quite intriguing and makes your subject appear like a barbie doll when unchecked.

Colorize Tool in Beta

Its colorize tool is in beta, which means you can expect improvements in future updates. It is quite efficient in filling colors to your images but misses to colorize the head and hands in some photos. If you want something better in the present time, try the Colorize tool of Photoshop Elements. These neural tools don’t offer side-by-side viewing, but there’s a button to see Before and After results.

Thumbs Up to the Light Direction

You can use its Light Direction tool to add better effects to your photos. However, the gaze brings more convincing results compared to the head direction tool when tested on photographs.

Transfer in Style with Style Transfer

Enhanced Content-Aware Fill

This newer version has an updated Content-Aware Fill tool as well. Now, its interface will also show the source content being used while replacing an object. You can edit the source area manually. As the program works efficiently without external help, there is no need for manual intervention. It is even better than the previous year’s version and can now identify objects not fit to be the fill pattern’s part.

Face-Aware Liquefy

Face-Aware Liquefy is another highly-efficient tool in this version of Photoshop. With this tool, you’ll recognize how face detection tools have improved in the past few years. It not only recognizes the whole face but also separate facial details. Do you remember the Adobe Fix? Yes, the app Adobe introduced at the launch event of the Apple iPad Pro. The Face-Aware Liquefy tool resembles the features of this app. It allows users to transform facial expressions more proficiently, such as, thoughtful expressions into smiles.

It is an advanced tool that quickly identifies facial features like a mouth, eyes, or nose. Then, it allows you to modify them with the help of sliders. You can do modifications like resizing the nose, jawline, face width, and eyes. Face-Aware Liquefy also allows you to edit facial features, like eyes, separately. If you click on the chain icon, it’ll let you edit both eyes of the subject together. You can deselect it to edit each eye separately.

Next, you can use this tool to apply some flattering as well as unflattering changes. In old times when there was no Face-Aware Liquefy tool, the flattering of images was different from what it is now. Most users say that the best thing about this feature is the result that looks natural.

Camera-Shake Reduction

Camera-Shake Reduction is one of the tools that let users say Photoshop is the best software. This tool evaluates a photo and identifies the shake motion path. When it finds the shifted pixels, it aligns them. Getting it right is not as simple as it sounds because the shake motion path is different in different pictures. Yes, it can be the same if you shake them in a similar manner, which is quite unlikely. You can either choose a region(s) on your own or use the best guess of this tool for estimating blur traces.

You can use Photoshop’s Camera Raw segment with raw files such as CR2 from Canon and NEF from Nikon. Camera Raw Profiles provides you the option to choose how Photoshop should alter raw files to viewable images. Adobe Color is the default color profile. It makes your images more vivid as compared to the previous Adobe Standard profiles. Users can also select profiles, like Portrait, Landscape, Vivid, and Monochrome. There are many Instagram-type effect filters, like several artistic and retro profiles, as well. Lightroom also has similar profile features.

If you are not a member of Creative Cloud, then also you can purchase through Stock. If you are a creator, you can sell your assets to get 33 percent of the sale. It’s not bad at all because the industry average is 25 percent.

Adobe Stock is accessible via all Adobe desktop applications having support for Adobe Library. For example, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and Premiere Pro. You can go to the website through the Search Adobe Stock menu and search the content. Then, download it to your device or sync it to your Cloud Library.
