Adobe Photoshop - Our Review

It’s been more than three decades when Photoshop began the journey to do amazing transformations to images, and it’s still one of the best photo editing applications you can get for your money. Whether your objective is typography, drawing, layered image editing, 3D modeling, or the addition of multiple effects, Photoshop is the software you should use. Also, Photoshop is the favorite of photographers and designers as it provides them with advanced tools to represent their crafts. Adobe released the latest version (v22) of Photoshop in October 2020, powering it with some mind-blowing features like AI-based neural filters, live shapes, sky replacement, pattern preview, and additional control over the files stored in the cloud. Photoshop was and is the preferred software of experts for editing photos in a professional manner.

What Is The Cost Of Photoshop?

To get Adobe Photoshop, you’ll require a subscription to Creative Cloud. It means you should make a new Adobe ID or use an existing one to access it. Talking about the plans, Photography is the most popular amongst individuals. Its monthly subscription is available for $9.99 and includes Photoshop, Lightroom, and Lightroom Classic. This plan comes with 20GB of cloud storage, but you can upgrade it to 1TB. Moreover, you get up to 10 Stock Images from Adobe free for the first month.

There’s a bit of disappointment for those looking for a single-payment Photoshop license as no such plan exists. If software-as-a-service (SaaS) is not your thing, you can go for alternatives like PaintShop Pro from Corel, PhotoDirector from CyberLink, and Photoshop Elements from Adobe. These image editing programs come with a single-payment license. And if you are looking for a free Photoshop alternative, go for the open-source image editing software – GIMP. However, working on this software is not as easy as on Photoshop.

Now, coming to the installation of Photoshop on your computer. First, you must install the helper program of Creative Cloud because it’ll manage updates and sync your files over the web. You’ll also gain access to stock images, Behance – largest creative network, and Adobe news. The latest Photoshop update also allows browsing and easy installation of plug-ins through Creative Cloud.

To get the maximum from Photoshop, make sure you install it on a powerful PC running on 64-bit Windows 10 or a Mac running on at least macOS 10.13. For Windows PCs, the minimum requirement is Windows 7 SP1 or later. Whether you install it on Windows or Mac, the installation process will take around 10 minutes.

If you are an old user of Photoshop and not utilizing its Creative Cloud service, you are probably missing some incredible features such as Artboards, Content-Aware Crop, Cloud Documents, Face-Away Liquify, Synced Libraries, Glyph Panel, Design Space view, support for Touch and Input Devices, and much more. It also comes with features especially beneficial for photo editors and photographers. Additional navigation options, haze removers, and support for new raw camera files help them a lot.

The Interface of Adobe Photoshop

Adobe always makes efforts to simplify the interface of Photoshop, and it reflects in this version also. The interface is more useful and customizable than the previous versions. The initial screen will present you with many workspace layouts, such as Graphic and Web, 3D, Painting, Motion, and Photography. It also allows you to create a custom layout with windows and panels according to your choice. You can also add or remove buttons to its toolbar rail according to your liking.

Simplified Creation and Opening of Documents

When you launch the application to create a New Document, it’ll present you with different types of templates. For instance, Photo Collage Layouts, Instant Film Mockups, and Textured Geometric Masks. You’ll notice the top belt contains category filters and restrict a proposed template to Photo, Print, Art & Illustration, Web, Mobile, and Film & Video. Sometimes, people copy an image from a website or application, and it remains on the clipboard until they paste it into a relevant software. Photoshop also allows you to open such images with their exact dimensions.

Start Page

Photoshop’s start page contains thumbnails of files you recently worked on, making it easier to continue from where you left. You can also access the libraries and presets from the same page. To simplify things more, the bottom of this page contains personalized tutorials. If you are a fan of its traditional starting experience, you can change to it as well. However, most users favor the new start page because it simplifies many things of their interest, like recent pages.

Better Search, Help, and Tutorials

The search function in complex desktop programs is advantageous for users. Some high-level software developers like Adobe and Microsoft understand this well and include it in their best software. If you move your gaze towards the upper right area, you’ll notice the search icon. It is permanent and helps you find different program functions, images (your’s and Adobe stock), tutorials, and other relevant things. This version comes with many highlighting features, such as resulting dialogs becoming separate discover windows but still presenting helpful tips and command shortcuts. By clicking on the Home icon, an index containing the Help, What’s New, and Tutorials section opens. If you require any kind of help regarding the context, clicking on the lightbulb shaped icon can present you with quick how-to demos.

Adapts According to Purpose

Another advancement to its interface is that it changes according to the purpose. You can recognize it during the Select and Mask (Alt + Ctrl + R) workspace. When this workspace is active, the most useful tools appear on the left and related properties panel on the right. The tools you’ll see are Quick Selection, Refine Edge Brush, Brush, Object Selection, Lasso, Hand, and Zoom. The theme colors of Photoshop’s interface are pleasing to the eyes and offer consistency concerning the context. For example, setting the window borders as light grey turns all dialogs to gray.

Touch Device Familiarity

Photoshop is doing everything to keep up with the touch devices like Microsoft Surface Pro. The touch input support it provides is excellent and in-line with the latest requirements and expectations. You’ll also notice it if you open Photoshop on an iPad. The iPad version is fully functional and allows you to edit/modify images using touch gestures. Moreover, it also remembers touch gestures, such as a 3-finger swipe for scrolling through pictures and a 2-finger swipe for undo. Touch-screen device users benefit from larger tabs. However, this version of Photoshop doesn’t allow finger painting through touch. For that, there is the Fresco app from Adobe, available for Windows tablets and iOS.

The support for Microsoft Surface Dial also strengthens its input options as it allows adjusting opacity, brush size, and much more.

The Selection Tools in Photoshop

Can you guess the activity for which Photoshop is used the most? Yes, for selecting people and objects in photos. However, doing this also frustrates users the most. Adobe is consistently simplifying this feature, and the inclusion of Subject Select, Object Select, Select and Mask workspace, and the Refine Edge option makes it evident.

Better Selection with AI (Artificial Intelligence)

You can notice the use of AI (Sensei from Adobe) in its Select Subject feature. It automatically detects and selects the primary object in your picture. The Object Select is available in the toolbar button of Magic Wand and Quick Selection tools. When any of these tools is active, notice the program window’s top. You’ll find the options bar containing the Select Subject button. It works remarkably well when the background is uniform, and you’ve to select people in the front. However, complex backdrops leave some areas unselected and require manual intervention.

Improved Select Subject, but Away From Perfection

The latest Photoshop update has improved many tools, such as Select Subject. This tool has now simplified the selection process and addresses the common pain points. Selection of hairs is one task that photo editors have always found challenging. Even the Refine Edge tool doesn’t help them much. Now, Adobe claims that this is no longer an issue in the latest update.

Testing Brings Impressive Results

When tested, this tool is working impressively. It is a lot better from previous versions, but still away from perfection. The test shot showed that plenty of areas remained unselected, and there were hair fibers on the plain backdrop. If commonly speaking, they are hair. Below is the screenshot that shows three versions of the same picture – the original, selected plus background removed, and the B&W mask view in which white space is the selection. As you can see, the result is not perfect:

Of course, you won’t get perfect results, but it is improving with every update. If you don’t go much into details, the latest one can also work. Among all the available auto portrait selection tools, it ranks quite higher. If it misses selecting some part or selects something extra, you can fix it manually.

The Neural Filters in Photoshop

Neural filters, available in the latest version, are superb additions. Neural in Photoshop means the neural network, an AI learning subset. Neural filters bring magic to your pictures by allowing you to change the subject’s gaze, mood, and age. It is possible because of the GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks) that uses incorrect (adversarial) data to trick the AI algorithm. In the latest version, users have to wait for a little before using Adobe effects. It is because they are processed via the cloud and take a few seconds before appearing. All such noteworthy features are categorized as beta and are one of the icons under an Erlenmeyer flask group. Only two filters aren’t considered beta – Style Transfer and Skin Smoothening.

New Tools

Many tools, such as Photo Restoration, Face-to-Caricature, Dust and Scratches, and others in the panel, aren’t available in this version. Maybe, Adobe will make them available in future versions. You’ll notice that some filters have a download sign next to them. It means if you have to use those filters, download them first. Some worthy filters available for download are Super Zoom, JPEG Artifacts Removal, and Colorize.

Impressive Face Tools

The existing face tools bring less realistic results. For example, when you use the Happiness slider on a picture, the smile you get will look as if forced, not a natural smile. But, this tool can be effective and useful if you use it carefully. It also includes sliders for Surprise and Anger, out of which the Surprise one is quite effective. In some pictures, the aging filter doesn’t work on the neck region. There is an option – Retain Unique Details. It is quite intriguing and makes your subject appear like a barbie doll when unchecked.

Colorize Tool in Beta

Its colorize tool is in beta, which means you can expect improvements in future updates. It is quite efficient in filling colors to your images but misses to colorize the head and hands in some photos. If you want something better in the present time, try the Colorize tool of Photoshop Elements. These neural tools don’t offer side-by-side viewing, but there’s a button to see Before and After results.

Thumbs Up to the Light Direction

You can use its Light Direction tool to add better effects to your photos. However, the gaze brings more convincing results compared to the head direction tool when tested on photographs.

Transfer in Style with Style Transfer

Style Transfer is another impressive neural filter in Photoshop. This effect changes a photograph’s appearance and makes sure it looks like an artistic work. Some photo editing software programs already had this feature, and it is now available in Photoshop too. It gives you the option to choose from more than 30 looks. Style Transfer offers various other things, such as effect’s strength, color protection, different brush sizes, and background blur.

Tools Useful for Photographers

Today, it features several font and drawing tools, but Photoshop was initially an application to edit and print photos. No doubt, it is still one of the best and reliable photo editors. Like photography-focused Lightroom, Photoshop also supports raw camera files and allows you to add effects and correct them. Photoshop is full of image editing features, such as adding or removing objects, adjusting histograms, adding stained-glass filters, etc. Photoshop has many tools useful for photographers, but it’s impossible to discuss all of them here. However, some remarkably superior ones are covered here.

Sky Replacement

From October 2020, this tool is a new addition to Photoshop. If you have worked on Luminar from Skylar, you’ll recognize Sky Replacement.

It helps you replace simple clouds with attractive ones. Earlier, you were supposed to create masks and layers manually to change the sky in a picture, but this new tool has evaded many tiring steps. It provides you with splendid results instantly. You can choose from several effects, such as pleasant, dazzling, and others. Sky Replacement also allows you to adjust the sky’s temperature, edge, brightness, and position.

Some tools focus only on detecting a horizon, but Photoshop is beyond them. It handles the images where objects in the foreground get in the way.

Lens Blur

Powered with artificial intelligence, Lens Blur is another beneficial tool for photographers. Compared to the old blur tool, the newer one helps you control bokeh shapes (created by a camera iris’s blades in actual lens blur) in a better way. The restorative effects of Photoshop allow you to choose from different types of polygons, such as triangles or octagons. It also helps you with blade rotation and curvature adjustments.

Content-Aware Crop

If you remember, an application called Anticrop (named Recrop later) gained a lot of popularity some time back. Do you know the reason? It is because this application allows users to change an image’s aspect ratio by increasing its sides. This tool from Photoshop does the same – instead of cutting, it adds to the sides of your photos. To access this tool, you first activate the crop tool and then select the Content-Aware box. With this tool, you’ll find that anything falling outside the boundaries of an image gets selected automatically. Content-Aware Crop tool functions similar to the Content-Aware Fill tool. However, the Content-Aware crop is super-effective with the content of patterned images, such as the pavement, forest, sky, or sea. When it comes to skies, the results are quite promising. For example, if you crop an image with skies, this tool will add additional clouds.

Enhanced Content-Aware Fill

This newer version has an updated Content-Aware Fill tool as well. Now, its interface will also show the source content being used while replacing an object. You can edit the source area manually. As the program works efficiently without external help, there is no need for manual intervention. It is even better than the previous year’s version and can now identify objects not fit to be the fill pattern’s part.

Face-Aware Liquefy

Face-Aware Liquefy is another highly-efficient tool in this version of Photoshop. With this tool, you’ll recognize how face detection tools have improved in the past few years. It not only recognizes the whole face but also separate facial details. Do you remember the Adobe Fix? Yes, the app Adobe introduced at the launch event of the Apple iPad Pro. The Face-Aware Liquefy tool resembles the features of this app. It allows users to transform facial expressions more proficiently, such as, thoughtful expressions into smiles.

It is an advanced tool that quickly identifies facial features like a mouth, eyes, or nose. Then, it allows you to modify them with the help of sliders. You can do modifications like resizing the nose, jawline, face width, and eyes. Face-Aware Liquefy also allows you to edit facial features, like eyes, separately. If you click on the chain icon, it’ll let you edit both eyes of the subject together. You can deselect it to edit each eye separately.

Next, you can use this tool to apply some flattering as well as unflattering changes. In old times when there was no Face-Aware Liquefy tool, the flattering of images was different from what it is now. Most users say that the best thing about this feature is the result that looks natural.

Camera-Shake Reduction

Camera-Shake Reduction is one of the tools that let users say Photoshop is the best software. This tool evaluates a photo and identifies the shake motion path. When it finds the shifted pixels, it aligns them. Getting it right is not as simple as it sounds because the shake motion path is different in different pictures. Yes, it can be the same if you shake them in a similar manner, which is quite unlikely. You can either choose a region(s) on your own or use the best guess of this tool for estimating blur traces.

It also allows you to adjust Artifact Suppression, Blur Trace Bounds, and Smoothing. If you use only Artifact Suppression and Smoothing, you’ll get less sharpened results. It can bring a little disappointment to those expecting a simple adjustment to strengthen effects, like the one present in Smart Sharpen. Shake Reduction is not perfect, but it’s a lot better than many. This tool won’t help when the subject in a photo is out of focus. It is also ineffective when you have to fix blurry subjects.

Camera Raw Features

You can use Photoshop’s Camera Raw segment with raw files such as CR2 from Canon and NEF from Nikon. This kind of support with every new update is making Adobe Photoshop a complete photo editing software. Now, instead of changing the hue value of a whole image, you can make local adjustments. While using this tool, you can keep multiple adjustment panels open and switch between the horizontal and vertical filmstrip views. It also allows merging panoramas with the right-click and use the ISO settings of an image to create presets.

Upright – Advanced Geometry Improvement

This module of Photoshop offers a lot of advanced capabilities, including Upright – the geometry improvement tool. You can use this tool to fix parallel horizontal and vertical lines. If you select the Auto setting, it’ll correct perspective errors. However, you can also decide to align only horizontals or only verticals or use the transforming sliders to modify horizontal, vertical, aspect ratio, and others on your own.

Newly Added Camera Raw Features

You’ll find that the latest release has many new additions, such as color grading for mid-tones, shadows, and highlights; increased GPU speed; customization of editing panels; and, like always, assistance for the raw formats included in the latest camera models.

It is not only useful for raw camera formats but other formats as well. The Camera Raw is also a successful filter that allows all kinds of adjustments, like exposure, color temperature, geometry, and others, to all image layers. In addition to pictures, you can also use it for modifying videos. It also allows using the noncircular healing brush while editing videos. Like Lightroom, the radial filter available here lets you do modifications to oval shapes. For example, the head of a person.

Camera Raw Profiles provides you the option to choose how Photoshop should alter raw files to viewable images. Adobe Color is the default color profile. It makes your images more vivid as compared to the previous Adobe Standard profiles. Users can also select profiles, like Portrait, Landscape, Vivid, and Monochrome. There are many Instagram-type effect filters, like several artistic and retro profiles, as well. Lightroom also has similar profile features.

Another feature that is common in Photoshop and Lightroom is Dehaze. The best thing about this feature is that it works on any photo, not just raw file formats. Yes, you can use it to add or remove haze on that JPG image from your mobile. You’ll find the result after using Dehaze impressive.

Mobile Design and Libraries

When it comes to mobile designs, Adobe Photoshop has crossed many milestones. The latest version has Design Space and Artboards. They simplify the use of tools and views meant for enhancing the web and mobile design. Great help for every user of Photoshop is its mobile app, Adobe Preview. It lets you see how the project will look on mobile devices. You can download it on your iPhone or iPad and get connected via Wi-Fi or USB. Adobe documentation also confirms that both methods are feasible.

Design Space

Design Space is a workspace that presents you with a simple and small toolset compatible with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. If you face difficulty in getting started with it, a tutorial is available in its interface. This workspace allows users to sample and search their work, and it includes layers, colors, fonts, and the library. What this workspace doesn’t present you with is the standard photo effects and adjustments from Photoshop. However, you can anytime move from the Design Space to the conventional interface of Photoshop.

Artboards

Artboards in Photoshop is useful for creating Adobe documents suitable for multiple device screens. You can also think of Artboards as one level beyond layers. They are also accessible through the Layers panel. At first, you may not feel the need for Artboards, but after spending some time using it, you’ll find it a useful addition to Photoshop.

By default, the Design Space makes use of Artboards. It also has templates compatible with the latest Surface Pros, iPhones, iPads, and other mobile screens. It’s an impressive move from Adobe, but experts think it is still not enough to influence designers familiar with the full interface of Photoshop. You can say that it is a streamlined way to work with multifaceted layer content. It also allows modification of multiple objects in one go or switch their locations.

Simplified Syncing Via Creative Cloud

In the last few years, Adobe has succeeded in syncing content across more than one Creative Cloud applications, but the latest Libraries feature makes it more influential. It allows you to sync documents, color themes, font styles, and brushes. You can create and access them in the desktop version of Adobe Photoshop and different mobile applications – Photoshop Sketch, Photoshop Mix, Hue, Capture, Photoshop Fix, and Comp. The mobile applications from Adobe support the Libraries feature for editing, creating, or acquiring content. You can download these apps for free but require an active account of Creative Cloud to use all features.

Cloud documents are associated with Libraries. You can save your project in the form of Cloud documents and work on them from any desktop or mobile device having Photoshop. These documents get saved instantly. In the future updates, Photoshop will allow collaborating these documents among different creators. However, they are accessible via Adobe Fresco. If you explore the latest version more, you’ll find that the old cloud document versions are accessible through the Version History panel. Moreover, you can also name those versions and make them available offline for editing.

If you think that syncing and storing the media in Adobe Cloud is perfect, it is not. There are instances of a few Lightroom users complaining that their unsynced media and photos got lost during the update. It means you can use the Adobe Cloud for your convenience, but regularly taking a backup of your work is a better idea.

Adobe XD where XD stands for Extreme Design allows designers to design templates and interfaces for mobile applications and websites. It allows you to use Artboards for accessing various site and app functions. The best thing is that you can also share the work through Libraries.

Libraries in Photoshop provides support for Adobe Stock templates. You can share work among public libraries, give read-only access, and follow other users’ libraries. If you want to share your Library with someone else, he/she must have a Creative Cloud account. It depends upon users what kind of permissions to set while collaborating documents. You can either give read-only permissions or full editing access.

Adobe Stock

In 2015, Adobe acquired Fotolia – a repository having more than 40 million pictures, illustrations, video clips, and vectors. Adobe Stock has emerged from this only. If you are not a member of Creative Cloud, then also you can purchase through Stock. If you are a creator, you can sell your assets to get 33 percent of the sale. It’s not bad at all because the industry average is 25 percent.

Adobe Stock is accessible via all Adobe desktop applications having support for Adobe Library. For example, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and Premiere Pro. You can go to the website through the Search Adobe Stock menu and search the content. Then, download it to your device or sync it to your Cloud Library. Another way is to search Stock direct from the Library and add it to your photo. However, it’ll remain watermarked until you purchase its license. After that, you can do and retain edits.

Font Tricks

With time, Photoshop has evolved significantly in matters of fonts. The update of June 2020 lets the fonts of your documents get automatically activated, downloaded, and synced to Library. It also allows filtering searches with respect to fonts having attributes such as blackletter, script, and serif. Moreover, you can instruct this program to display fonts similar to the ones selected by you.

Identifying Matching Tools is Easy

The Match Font tool identifies fonts used in images and finds their nearest match available either on your PC or the enormous font collection of Adobe. The June 2020 update also enhanced its imaging analysis with multiple-line detection, vertical text, and more fonts. You’ll realize the improvised results while testing.

It also allows designating favorite fonts, which makes things a lot easier. Another example of enhanced user experience is hovering over fonts and seeing their previews in the document. When, in the search panel, you move your cursor on top of typefaces, the selected text changes to those typefaces instantly. When it comes to the size of fonts, it presents you with the 16-point option. It is the size often considered useful for web content. Another good news for web designers is that Photoshop now supports SVG OpenType fonts for responsive designs, and emoji fonts. Those having a subscription to Creative Cloud can search for typefaces at fonts.adobe.com.

If you are a font fancier and want more than basic typeface sets, then the Glyphs panel is for you. It allows substituting alternate characters and displays alternates after selecting a character in the Type Layer. Sometimes, you may find the tool not working reliably and suggesting the former letter when a new one is selected.

Photoshop also provides support for Variable Font, a kind of font format (OpenType) that allows modification of custom attributes – width, weight, optical size, and slant – with the help of slider controls.

Tools Useful for Designers and Artists

Because of the increased use of high-resolution images, you may find that your old pictures are not attractive as before. However, the upsampling algorithm of Photoshop can end your disappointment. The Upscaler emerges while resizing an image, as Preserve Details resample setting. Its Reduce Noise feature is useful when the process introduces noise. As compared to the long-standing bicubic algorithm, it is much more cleaner.

Smart Objects take care of reusable raster, nondestructive, and vector pictures updating all through your project. Users are allowed to save type formatting as styles applicable to different text later in documents. You might look at the type as a method that previews web browsers using antialiasing. If you are a web designer, Photoshop will generate CSS code to make your work look similar to what you design in the program. Moreover, the software is efficient in importing color from the CSS or HTML code of a website.

This version has the option – Convert to Layers – that simplifies the conversion of Smart Objects to their modules for editing. The default gradients, shapes, swatches, styles, and patterns are all updated and have more attractive options than before. Now, the Gradients panel is accessible from the right side.

Symmetry Brings Proficiency

You’ll find that Photoshop features a wide variety of pencils and brushes – more than 1,200. The user experience is enhanced significantly because it now provides stroke smoothing selections and organization of brush presets into folders. Symmetry is the newly added option and can proficiently work with Mixer Brush, Eraser Tools, Pencil, or Paint Brush. For using it, move your cursor to the Options bar and click on the icon with butterfly. Then, select the type of required symmetry: Horizontal, Vertical, Diagonal, Circle, Wavy, Dual Axis, Parallel Lines, Mandala, Spiral, or Radial.

The latest update also comes with the feature – Pattern Preview. It repeats everything in an image like a grid – beyond the real image boundary. Moreover, the pattern you get is reusable when saved. If you are a gift-wrap designer, you’ll find this tool useful.

Behance

Behance is one of the social networks dedicated to creative professionals. It offers users to connect and display their portfolios online. As it comes inbuilt to your Creative Cloud app, you can use it to post your projects and get feedback from clients or/and colleagues. For posting your files right from Photoshop, you can click on the share button. Behance allows connecting, sharing, and discussing your work with existing and potential clients as well as freelancers.

This social media network is also a significant resource for enhancing Photoshop skills as it hosts a Daily Challenge where users can see an expert working on the program. It also features a chat panel that allows interacting with presenters.

Users can customize their online portfolios and display them as ProSites from Behance. If you have a subscription to Creative Cloud, you can use ProSites with your URLs. The interface of Behance is clean, elegant, and has all the necessary social features. It even allows you to view the stats related to activities on your page. Nowadays, because of the evolution of e-commerce, the Zoomify format is highly in demand. It lets you export images in the Zoomify format and ensure your pictures serve the purpose when enlarged. Some users expect more options to share on Behance, such as via inbuilt email or to Flicker and others.

3D Tools

Now you don’t need to spend a fortune to access the 3D image editing tools from Photoshop because they are made available with Photography or Creative Cloud subscription plans. The 3D tools of Adobe Photoshop are also augmented to perform faster and create more realistic shadows. Moreover, Adobe offers sample 3D documents (downloadable) that simplify your journey with 3D tools.

As the 3D tool from Photoshop helps in creating complicated designs, everyone is not at-ease while using it. But, Adobe has simplified using its 3D Scene panel by consolidating many 3D design functions. It allows you to create matching 3D objects which reveal the edits performed on the parent object. It also allows doing interesting things with panorama photos, such as converting them into 360-degree movies or pinning them into shapes like cone, sphere, or doughnuts.

The new version of Photoshop also provided enhanced support for 3D printing. 3D prints don’t come correctly if the surfaces and beams are faulty. Photoshop repairs surfaces and supports beams, making sure you get the right 3D prints. Photoshop also allows you to preview color-coded 3D prints, export 3D models/designs as SVX/PDF files, control the bump-map depth, and simplify 3D meshes automatically. Moreover, it provides support for 3MF (3D Manufacturing Format) files.

Video Editing

Whatever adjustments (be it crop, exposure, or filter) you do to the still images of Photoshop, you can do them to your video clips as well. It is also capable of keyframing and multitrack and uses the same high-speed rendering engine used to power the Premiere Pro from Adobe. When it comes to transition options, only a few transitions of fades are available. When you add multiple video tracks, they become individual Photoshop layers. Yes, you can adjust each of them individually.

In addition to this, it features all standard tools of video editing. For example, splitting, joining and trimming clips. There are not many audio tools, but you can fade in, out, or mute the volume.  You can save movie files as PSDs by default, but you can also make video files with DPX, QuickTime, or H.264 encoding by selecting File/Render/Export video. In addition to this, you can set the resolution of videos to complement both mobile devices and big screens.

Share and Export

The Export options in Photoshop are better than ever, and also the way you export your work. Now, it also lets you use the share features of your Operating System. The upper right corner of Photoshop has an up-arrow icon. Click on it to use the inbuilt share options of your macOS or Windows OS. The Mac allows sharing via AirDrop, and Windows allows using email, My People, or other apps that go well with photos. In previous versions, the option Save for Web was used the most, but the current version has Export as its replacement. However, you can still use the old option as Photoshop has not evacuated it. The new way to Export your work is faster and exports smaller formats, especially JPG files. Photoshop also allows you to import and export a format commonly used on websites – SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics).

It also lets you export more than one size simultaneously. You can also convert your work to sRGB color space and export the whole Artboard or just a single layer. If you want to use your preferred format, it allows setting up Quick Export option. Lastly, it also allows adding metadata, like copyright information, while exporting.

More Than Just Photoshopping

With Photoshop, it is easier than ever to do wonderful things to digital images. If you are shifting to a newer version from an older one, you’ll discover several new features. Some unique features of Photoshop are Advanced Type tools, Integrated Stock photography, Libraries, and Cloud Documents.

If you’re looking for a better and complete photo editing software that has the perfect tools for typography and drawing, it’s Photoshop. It features the most useful 3D tools and focuses on web as well as mobile designs. Many experts have given it a 5-star rating and declared it as the best software for image editing.
